3 months of freelancing
As of yesterday, I have officially been freelancing for three months. Happy freelance anniversary to me!
Three months may seem like a short amount of time, but I've worked on so many different projects, and learned so many new things, I feel it is worth celebrating.
I've had a varied few months working on a range of projects, including digital design for a ticketing agency, UI for an educational website and POS ads for luxury cosmetics.
Here's a little look at what I've been up to.
Things I've learned to do:
- Talk about myself and my work with confidence (and not underselling my skills)
- Be open and honest about what I want from my career
- Talk to new people and get to know how they work (quickly)
- Get stuck in from the moment I arrive at an agency
- How to juggle workload
- Manage finances
- How to deal with rejection (not a fun skill, but definitely essential)
- How a ticketing website works - inside and out (thanks Eventim UK)
- Code a webpage from scratch How to use Microsoft Word to its full potential (style sheets - who knew?)
- How to set out files for developers
Things I need to improve on:
- Not eating everything in the cupboards when working from home
- Not going to cafe to work and drinking my bodyweight in coffee
- Getting rid of those first day nerves
- Everything else (after all, there's always something new to learn).
What I've been working on
I can't show you everything I've been working on, but here's a little taster.Digital design for Eventim UK
